How did you learn the combinations of 🔟? 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍

On Friday, I’ll be chatting with @deenabarselah on Freedom within Limits, a foundational Montessori principle and how to keep this in mind when exploring food with littles in the kitchen.

Migration research this month! It’s been so fun to discover animals that migrate in our book: “Going Home: The Mystery of Animal Migration” by Marianne Berkes.

Exploration with triangles! In our work with shapes and geometry at the Early Childhood level, we explore triangles in a very in-depth way. There is a shelf entirely dedicated to triangles with materials constructed entirely around their qualities and the idea that many shapes are made of triangles.

Exciting news in 2023! Montessori Spaces is incorporating parent education opportunities on Fridays for families who are local to Austin.

Our “going out” this month consisted of finding our recipe, making a list, and shopping for it in the local grocery store. What fun we had! Each girl had a list of three ingredients and helped to navigate the store to find them.

This weekend I had the privilege of seeing some of my former students - who are 15! 🤩 @sapientiagang

The trinomial cube - what a beautiful material!

Yesterday we attended an event at our local library called “Read to Maeby.” Maeby is a therapy dog that loves listening to children read. It was such an exciting afternoon for the children!

One of the most fun Autumnal activities is leaf collecting and classification. This can be the perfect time to add extensions with the botany cabinet and invite repetition in observation of the shapes.

We had such a wonderful time this weekend for the Small Schools of South Austin tour. Collaborating with an incredible team of educators has been inspiring and life-giving!

Our Open House is quickly approaching! We are thrilled to be a part of the first Small Schools of South Austin tour with so many unique and wonderful programs!

Creating small #seasonalspaceswelove within our home invites play and revitalizes materials with a new purpose.

Montessori believed that the very young child should have an “education of the senses” as she called it. Experiences of the physical and psychic, leading to a spiritual connection of self to the greater world. (She was really before her time pushing sensory experiences as a necessity for littles!)

Sorting phonograms! This dictionary can help emergent readers along the way. When they see a sound - like “y” - at the end of the word, they use this as a reference to learn which sound the “y” makes in that specific word.

This weekend we took our field trip to the @balletaustin 2 production of Maria and the Mouse Deer. It was so wonderful!
